CEDAR HILL FARMHOUSE ~ TEXAS
An antique bed covered with mosquito netting serves as both a day bed for naps and a sofa in an outdoor living room when paired with rocking Adirondack chairs and a rolling cart repurposed as a side table.
On the other end of the 12- by 50-foot back deck sits a long antique scrubbed pine table for outdoor dinner parties. Though probably American, the table takes on a French country vibe when topped with white and blue linens and vintage glassware and dishes.
The farmhouse’s central space combines the living, dining, and kitchen areas without any separation.
The home owner first installed dark-stained cabinets in the kitchen, which was later changed r mind and painted them. The grayish-tan color with just a hint of green works with the dark brown granite countertops and off-white tumbled marble backsplash, as well as the Sherwin Williams Windsor Greige on the walls. Of course, Joyce’s kitchen is peppered with rustic farm elements that mix well with the French country style, like a large shovel and rake propped in the corner
Here in the master bedroom, a mirror and white plates are hung over the bed.
The woner used iron frames strung with chicken wire, intended to be used as postcard holders, to frame the little dresses on the wall. At the foot of each bed sits a burlap slip-covered ottomans topped with fabric-lined baskets to corral the girls’ or guests’ belongings.
