DIY All Purpose Cleaner

I ran across this cleaning recipe from Julie at Home Ready Home.  She has several articles on emergency prepardeness and country living which is right up my alley.  So I’m brousing thourgh her site and ran across this DIY all purpose cleaner and wanted to share it.

Cagliari, Sardinia

Every morning I would wake up and run to the balcony to see what our next port looked like.  I watched the sun rise as we pulled into each port and with camera in hand, took pictures of the most beautiful sunrises. To be honest, I’m not  a morning person.   A sunrise is that […]

PULA ~ Italy & Pink Flamingos

As we left Cagliari, Italy and headed to see the Ruins of Nora, we passed miles and miles of salt marshes filled with these beautiful pink flamingos. This was the first time I had seen this many flamingos at one time and the first time I had experienced flamingos in the wild. We also saw […]

Nora Archaeological Site in Sardinia, Italy

Where should we go?  This is the first question one faces when planning a vacation.  There are so many places in the world to visit which made choosing a cruise a difficult task.  She would pick a date and  read me a list of various port stops.  When she mentioned Sardinia in one of the […]

Blackened Seasoning Recipe

Peace, Love, and Low Carb has a great recipe for blackened seasoning.  She uses it to make Blackened Chicken Fajitas.  She chops the chicken up into then strips along with some onions and peppers, and freezes them all together.  All you have to do when  you are ready for some fajitas is throw the chicken mixutre […]

Cinnamon Roll Bread Pudding

I love bread pudding.  It’s one of those timeless old-fashioned desserts that evokes times past in grandmothers kitchen. I use cinnamon rolls in this recipe but you could use honey buns, donuts,  rolls, etc.   This is one of those recipes that takes a little time because the bread has to dry out and then […]

Flowers from the Garden

The roses are in full bloom now and are absolutely beautiful. Yellow roses are always my favorite to photograph. The white peonies were the first to bloom and all of the plants are loaded.  This is first pink peony to bloom.     Related

Valencia, Spain

Every morning, I jumped out of bed and ran to the balcony of our room to see if I could get a glimpse of our next port.  It was like Christmas morning, every morning! As we pulled into port and I ran back and forth to the balcony with camera in hand while trying […]

Sagunto, Spain

We decided to take an excursion though the ship and chose the Sagunto and St. Joseph Caves.  It consisted of a visit to the village of Sagunto settled in the 5th  century BC and a relaxing boat ride through a subterranean river. I was surprised at how much agriculture there was around the Valencia area. […]

Spring Flowers are blooming on the farm.

It’s spring on the farm again and that means green grass, baby chicks, newborn calves, and beautiful flowers.  Here are some of the pictures I took yesterday.  Hope you enjoy them. Related

Plaça de Catalunya ~ Barcelona, Spain

Plaça de Catalunya.  Placa de Catalunya is a large square in central  Barcelona, Spain  that is generally considered to be both its city center and the place where the old city and new meet.   It is  known for its fountains and statues, its proximity to some of Barcelona’s most popular attractions, and for the flocks of pigeons that gather in the […]

Gothic Quarters in Barcelona, Spain

When my daughter and I were planning this trip and I saw Barcelona, Spain on the cruise port list, I thought it would be a nice place to visit but I have to admit that  it wasn’t on my bucket list of places to see.  Let me just go on record as saying “put Barcelona […]

FRIED OREO COOKIES

My sister and niece were making these the other night and they were so delicious that I knew I had to make some.  The next day I want to the nearest  town on my lunch break and purchased a Fry Daddy, cooking oil, Bisquick, milk, and Oreos.  Yes, they were so good that I took […]

Toulon, France

The third stop on our  cruise was in Toulon, France.   This was one of those stops where we had a guide book in hand as we left the ship.  We walked to the bus stop and looked for the bus number the guide book said to take.  There was no such bus number and we couldn’t […]

White Chocolate Peeps Rice Krispies Treats

Every month, Lady Behind the Curtain has a Dessert Challenge where she assigns two ingredients.  This weeks challenge was to create a dessert using white chocolate and marshmallow peeps. I remembered a recipe where my sister made Peeps rice krispiees eggs for Easter.  I decided to use the same recipe and add white chocolate on […]

Monte Carlo, Monaco

The second stop on our Mediterranean cruise was Monte Carlo, Monaco.  I had read that we would be able to see the city from the ship but I wasn’t prepared for the site that lay before me as arrived on deck for breakfast.  It was beautiful, espeically the very large yacht next to our ship. […]

New Baby Chicks

I can always tell it’s spring on the farm, not by the new leaves on the trees, or the first green grass, and not even by the blooming of the daffodils.  No, I can tell by the sound of baby chicks hatching.  Here are some pictures of the new baby chicks and I have more […]

My “Under the Tuscan Sun” Moment

I have seen this movie more times than I care to admit.  It is one of my favorite movies and I live vicariously through Diane Lane every time I watch the movie.  Maybe it’s because I can relate with her movie character.  A woman who divorces her cheating husband, travels to Italy, falls in love […]

Eze Village, France

One the second day of our cruise we docked in Monaco.  My daughter had chosen to visit Eze Village, France while we were in port..  I had never heard of Eze Village and had done no research on it before we left. Let me back up a minute in case this is the first post […]

Banana Cream Pie

I have so many fond memories of spending time in my grandmothers kitchen so it’s no surprise that any time I make a cream based pie, I think of my grandmother. I used to stand on a chair by the stove with a spoon in my hand stirring up whatever creamy delight she was making.  After she […]

Dublin Airport Manor, Dublin, Ireland

When my daughter and I were looking for a place to stay when we landed in Ireland, we chose the Dublin Airport Manor.  We were  only staying one night and needed  to be at the airport at 5:00 the next morning so we were looking for someplace near the airport.  We read several great reviews about […]

Pisa, Italy

My daughter and I have just returned from our European vacation and I’m trying to recover from jet lag.  I look over all of the photographs I took and I am awestruck by everything we saw in our whirlwind tour of seven countries.  We took a Mediterranean cruise with Norwegian Cruise Lines, leaving from Civitavecchia for […]

Cinque Terre, Italy ~ Vernazza

Of all the villages in Cinque Terre, I think Vernazza was my favorite to photograph.  It has colorful, antique homes that cling to steep cliffs and a lovely small harbor that shelters under the shadows of an ancient castle and a beautiful seaside church.  Vernazza had massive flooding and mudslides that left the town buried in […]
